“They treated us like dogs.”

“We were treated like cattle.”

“They treated us like animals.”

There’s a catergory in peoples brains. A box so to speak. On the outside of the box it says

“Anyone inside the box is okay to own. To buy and sell. To beat, and manipulate and control. To hate and kill.

Anything you like.

Anyone inside this boxes is not someone but something.”

The other side of the box is labeled “animal”.

When people oppress humans, they put them in this box. Sometimes they don’t know it, sometimes they deny it, and sometimes they straight insist that these are less then human, subhuman animals.

The box is used as a tool against humanity.

We have a category in our minds of sentient beings it’s okay to abuse. We need to get rid of it.

Exactly. There's a reason why "treating someone like an animal" has an immediately understandable meaning and "treating someone like a tree" doesn't. It's because animals are treated terribly! So maybe let's stop treating all beings in these ways!

I have purchased and eaten American "pop tarts" and I gotta say. Not worth the cost.

derinthescarletpescatarian

#oh yeah‚ you dont eat them cuz they're good‚ you eat them cuz they make the munch alarm shut up for a minute

C'mon just eat toast I KNOW you guys have toast

derinthescarletpescatarian

#toast doesn't have bad icing on it

Toast has whatever you want on it. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination (and budget).

Someone please just settle my anxiety????

I’m signing up to AWIN for affiliate marketing & I trust them & I trust the brands, that’s all chill. When I finished their sign-up, I got asked for my card number, card security number & expiry date, so they could confirm my identity & link my bank account for the sake of payment. Which all makes sense & I know the card security is for peace of mind to prevent fraud.

It’s the exact same information I need to enter when I’m buying stuff online & I don’t think twice about it then.

But now paranoia is kicking in & I’m freaking out, so can someone just reassure me that they’re a good option to go with????

I know they’re good, I know they’re safe. Can someone please juar give me some reassurance???

Today I saw a pic of a baby cowbird next 2 its nest "parent" and it was so much bigger!!!!! Which is the sort of thing that gets normal people upset about the injustice of nest parasitism but makes *me* worry if baby cowbirds get bird dysmorphia

This (from Cornell Labs via Merlin) is the pic I was looking at. It's just a little baby but it's so much bigger than its "parent"!!!! Do baby cowbirds feel isolated? Do they understand they're a different bird, or are they just a really bad sparrow?

raiasintended

hey, good news! ecologists have been studying this very thing! it seems young cowbirds have some kind of innate sense that leads them to sneak out of their foster nest at night to hang out in grasslands where they—more often than not—meet other cowbirds and learn more about what they really are.

so so tired of people acting like it's taboo/embarrassing/shameful to be attracted to a fat person

i am fat and complete strangers have accused people i've dated of being chubby chasers, fat fetishists, or have just generally made rude comments about there being a size difference in the relationship

if you find a fat person attractive you really do not need to preface it with a "hear me out" or "this is so embarrassing, but" in fact. don't do that with anybody. please do not contribute to this weird attitude surrounding fatness and fat bodies
